Summer 2002 Bulletin

This summer Juliet Middleton from the Forensic Science department, King’s College London, on placement with the Pigmentum Project, researched the historic recipies for Prussian blue. She manufactured various samples according to these historical recipies and performed comprehensive analyses, resulting in a new understanding of Prussian blue.

Paul Eyerly, also of the Forensic Science department, King’s College London, analysed—in conjunction with Dr. Allison Crossley, University of Oxford Department of Materials Research—a portion of our collection by SEM-XRF, notably pigments from Pompeii, which laid the foundation for important new discoveries.
