Pigmentum Placements

The Pigmentum Project has provided an excellent learning environment for numerous students to cut their teeth on cutting-edge practical and theoretical work. Past students have come from a variety of backgrounds, including the Institute of Archaeology, University College London, and the Forensics Science Department, King’s College London.

Our students have contributed to the Project’s research work in numerous ways, including analysing pigment formation and composition, studying pigments recovered from the Roman city of Pompeii, and developing EDX protocols for the Pigmentum database.

Other work has included analysing Roman wall painting fragments, HPLC of dye-containing pigments, and doing Raman and FTIR spectroscopic analysis of pigments in the Pigmentum collection.

From time to time placements with the Pigmentum Project will become available; interested parties should contact us.
